About the San Jose Chapter

                 
The American Sewing Guild's San Jose Chapter is a fun, friendly & welcoming group of more than 130 members from the San Jose South Bay area.  We provide a networking opportunity for sewing enthusiasts and welcome everyone who loves to sew, regardless of skill level.  In keeping with the ASG's mission statement - "to provide the highest caliber of support to the sewing individual " - we sponsor at least four sewing events throughout the year. 

Regular sewing events include: 

·        Seminars by nationally known speakers.

·         Community service sewing day in January.

·        Sewer's Retreat in February - escape with sewing friends for a fun filled weekend.

·        Annual pattern challenge in the fall.

In addition, the San Jose Chapter consists of 5 Neighborhood Groups (NG) in different parts of south bay from South San Francisco to Monterey.   The Neighborhood Groups are the heart of the American Sewing Guild, and meet monthly to enjoy sewing programs and sharing of ideas. Membership in the ASG entitles you to visit any Neighborhood Group in any part of town.

Community Service is a big part of NG activities where members use their sewing skills to help those less fortunate.  Past Community Service projects have included:

·         Sewing duffle bags and tote bags for foster children,

·         Sewing heart shaped pillows for mastectomy patients.
