Community Service
This year our chapter wanted to do a little something different for our annual Community Service project. We made sleeping pads
for the kitties at the Humane Society of Silicon Valley. The “kitty condos”, where the kitties are housed at the Humane Society
do not have any soft surfaces. That is where we came in. We made simple three layer machine washable pads that have ties
to keep them in place in the “condos”. After 2 ˝ hours, our energetic group completed 100 sleeping pads.
Past Community
Service Projects
The Mid Peninsula group has an ongoing project of making pillowcases for the children at Help One Child in Los Altos.
All
neighborhood groups are involved in our ongoing project to make children's clothing to be donated to the San Mateo County Foster Children.
Any size from 6 months up to teens is accepted. Those outfits that are extra special are saved by the program director for any
of the children who have a special occasion clothing need. We have sent well over 150 garments to them over the last couple
years.
Recently, we have been asked by the American Cancer Society to make chemo caps for cancer patients. These can be
any type of cap, or scarf used by patients who have lost their hair to cancer treatments.
The Mid-Peninsula neighborhood group
has an ongoing project of sewing pillowcases for the Help One Child group in Los Altos.
Also, we make tote bags of any kind or
drawstring duffle bags to give to foster children also to carry their belongings.
Tote Bag Dimensions The dimensions are
15 x 18 inches for the outer part and lining. Straps are 3 x 20 inches.
Duffle Bag dimensions and instructions are
